Empowering Leaders
I want to give to the greatest need in the Empowering Leaders for Life initiative:
What would you do if, this Sunday, your pastor tendered his resignation? Chances are, you’d organize a search committee, and within a few weeks, you would interview several worthy candidates. In our Christian reality, people respond to God’s call regularly and prepare for pastoring without always having a specific church to serve in after their education is complete. Yet, those same students are usually assured that there will be a position for them in a local church, somewhere, when they finish their schooling.
For the 4.5 billion people who live in OMS’ largely unreached world, pastors are almost unknown. If OMS needs a pastor in one of the 46 countries in which we serve, we must train him. Last year alone, OMS was involved in training more than 5,800 ministers in its more than 40 training institutions. Those institutions are as varied as the countries in which we minister.
When you attend church this Sunday, your pastor will probably be there, standing at the pulpit, teaching from the Word. Give God thanks for him. The nightmare of a world without pastors is not yours. But this is OMS’ reality, and we are addressing this problem sensitively and consistently. The OMS Empowering Leaders for Life initiative will help meet the need for pastors around the world in concrete ways. Will you help impact OMS’ world without pastors? Will you help fulfill this great need? Please consider giving a gift toward the greatest need.
