Ecuador Prayer Requests

March 17-23, 2010

ECUADOR—Remember a spiritual retreat scheduled over Easter weekend with Patricio Orellana and the churches in Cuenca. These retreats have been a great avenue for people to hear the call of God on their lives, so lift the participants up to the Lord.

Praise that Pastor Carlos is coming to Cuenca to seek medical care for his heart condition this week. Ask the Lord to lead him to the right doctor who can help him. They will greatly miss him at church but he needs to get to the bottom of his health problem.

Lift up the students in the central district as they formally study God’s Word through the FLET (FLET stands for Latin-American Foundation of Theological Studies, an intense Bible study with workbooks) program. Ask God to train up pastors and leaders for this district.

March 3-9, 2010

ECUADOR—Be in prayer for the family of Patrician Santander, ECC team member who is a church planter in the Barcelona, Spain, area. He got notification that his brother in Ecuador was in a very serious auto accident and is in serious condition in a hospital. Also, Patrician’s nephew was killed in the accident. Please lift up this whole family in this time of suffering and grief, and ask God to bring healing, peace and comfort to all concerned.

Pray for Vinicio, a new trainer of village church planters who just moved to the town of Bucay. He will begin by finding people whom God is raising up to start churches.

Feb. 24- Mar 2. 2010

ECUADOR—Pray for Bonnie Shrode, leading a Bible study on Friday mornings with 10 women. She is encouraged by the spiritual growth she is seeing. Lift up Bonnie and these women as they have seven more sessions in this study.

There will be a north costal district meeting held on February 25, during which plans will be made for activities in the district for 2010. Ask for God’s wisdom and guidance to rule over this meeting,

The churches in the jungle area of Yacuambe will be having a grand celebration on February 28. All the small house churches will join together in worship and fellowship. Pray for a large participation and glorious celebration of the Lord’s goodness.

Pray for BJ and Andi Williamson and family in New Jersey on home ministry assignment. The field needs them, but their funding is moving along very slowly. Pray for many new contacts with churches and individuals who will want to take support in this young family.

January 27- Feb. 2, 2010

ECUADOR—The OMS Ecuador field met at Camp Pallatanga from January19-22 for their annual planning and evaluation meetings. Pray as they put into action the decisions they voted upon and for God’s leading.

Pablo and Rebecca Pazmiño plan to return to Los Angeles on February 16 to start a homeland assignment. Pray as they pack, sell, store and give away stuff. Ask that their daughters, Elizabeth and Johanna, adjust to life in the United States. Pray also for the completion of Pablo’s citizenship process. They ask for prayer for the national workers that are taking over their responsibilities: Johanna Jaramillo, leading the missions program; Silvia, heading up the Palobamba outreach; and Jimmy and Belén, leading the youth group and directing the music ministry.

January 20-26, 2010

ECUADOR—Pray for all the missionaries in annual meetings from January 19-23. Pray for safe travel and for God’s guidance as they discuss business and make decisions for 2010. Jeff and Laura Edwards will be with them, sharing encouragement from God’s Word and meeting all of the Ecuador team.

Thank the Lord that Carlos and Sulay Delgado, pastor and church planter missionaries from Colombia, were able to see doctors and get health issues taken care of in Quito. Carlos is having a special treatment for foot problems, and three-year-old Joshua is being treated for adenoid problems. Pray the medicine will work so that he can breathe and sleep well.

Pray for Jenny Riggs, who is raising funds for her return to Ecuador in July to work in Loja in southern Ecuador. She will teach school and work in children’s ministry. She anxious to implement all of the valuable information that she learned at the Child Evangelism Fellowship training program.

Pray for Nicole Stiles, recent graduate of Asbury Seminary, beginning fundraising to return to Central Asia where she served in the eXtreme Walk program. Pray that she will have many opportunities to share how God is leading and that many people will commit to supporting her.

Jan. 13-19, 2010

ECUADOR—Praise the Lord that Kathy Coon is finishing up her herceptin treatments in Ecuador. She has resumed the treasurer position and her strength and energy are returning. Ask the Lord to give her guidance in some future treatment that she is considering.

On January 19, all the missionaries will meet at Camp Pallatanga for annual meetings. Pray that the Lord will meet them there and give them direction for 2010. This is a time when we hear reports from the last year and praise God for what He is doing in Ecuador.

ACIS (Church Association of Saraguros) recently had their annual assembly meeting. God has worked in so many ways to restore relationships with others and with Him, and also to grow the church in maturity and numbers. Ask that the different areas where there are churches will be able to find unity. There are long distances between them, making it difficult to meet and work together.

November 11-17, 2009

ECUADOR—Continue to pray for the wall to come down at the Riobamba church construction site.
