Taiwan Prayer Requests

July 8-14, 2009

TAIWAN—Pray for the youth group in the Shrlin Church. There are some who need to open their hearts and ears to God’s great love for them. During the summer months, pray for the youth activities Don and Marla Bettinger have planned: 1) weekly Bible study for senior and junior high with activities following the study, 2) Sunday morning discipleship classes, 3) Sunday morning Gospel meetings and 4) outings. Pray that these activities will help them have a heart to know and serve the Lord.

More than 20 seminary graduates received their degrees at the commencement ceremonies recently. Praise the Lord for the blessing of the ministry of Rev. Thomas Wang who gave the commencement address. Praise for these graduates to maintain their passion to serve the Lord. Pray for those who will serve overseas in mission activities, those assigned to church ministry positions and those who will continue in advanced studies.

June 17-23, 2009

TAIWAN—Pray for three English camps that Don and Marla Bettinger will have in July in the cities of Changhua, Taipei and Taichung. Ask God to give a rich harvest in each.

Don and Marla Bettinger request prayer for God to help them effectively balance their summer schedules. Their oldest son, Andrew, and Marla’s niece, Tiffany, are living with them this summer and helping in the camps. Pray for their younger sons, Micah and Isaac in Taiwan and Aaron in the U.S.

Pray for the English club class that Don and Marla Bettinger set up to keep contact with and disciple students from last semester. It takes place on Thursdays. They expected 12-15 to attend; 30 have already signed up. Ask God to give wisdom on how best to use the time to strengthen the ministry with them.

May 27-June 4, 2009

TAIWAN—Pray for a teenager who recently received Christ as his Savior to be connected to a good youth group and church. His parents, though not Christians, are very supportive. Pray for His witness to them.

Continue to pray for the Lord’s direction in the purchase of property for OMS housing and offices.

April 1-7, 2009

TAIWAN—Pray for the family of George Dyer, a former OMS missionary, working in Taiwan. His wife’s parents are not Christian. Ask that the testimonies they heard at the funeral will be used by the Holy Spirit to draw them to Jesus. Pray for his wife Fanny and two small children as they grieve and struggle with life without their dad.

Pray for the husband of a former student in Naomi Williamson’s English Bible Class. For many years, his wife and the church family have prayed for his salvation. He now has requested that, beginning March 26, he and his wife go each week to the Williamson home to read the Bible together. Pray that the powerful Word of God will take root in his heart.

Pray for the Morrison Academy students who will be going on a mission trip to Okinawa during the first two weeks of April. Pray that they will be bold in their witness and that many will respond to Jesus’ invitation to “come unto me.”

March 25-31, 2009

TAIWAN—Pray for a 70-year-old man who attends Naomi Williamson’s English Bible class. He has never heard the Gospel before, and his heart is very open to the biblical truths that are presented. Pray that he will receive Christ into his life.

Don Bettinger continues to lead a weekly Bible study each Friday at the Shrlin court house in Taipei. Pray for the Word to take root and bear fruit in the lives of those who attend.

March 18-24, 2009

TAIWAN—Pray for Rod and Beth Williamson’s parenting class in Tainan at the Anle Church. They need wisdom in helping parents in areas where Biblical principles conflict with traditional parenting practices. Also, continue to pray for the Gospel message to penetrate into the hearts of the students of Beth’s English class, which meets each week after the parenting class.

A 13-week Evangelism Explosion course kicked off on March 3 at the Shirlin Church where Don and Marla Bettinger assist. Pray for those receiving the training to have an opportunity to share the Gospel within the coming weeks.

TAIWAN—One of the mothers of a member of Don Bettinger’s youth group accepted the Lord recently. Pray that she will attend church and grow in her faith.
