Praise the Lord that many students at Christian Academy in Japan made first-time decisions during the Spiritual Life Emphasis Week. God blessed the ministry of David McDaniel (YWAM) as many other students made commitments to walk closer with God. Pray for the follow-up to these decisions and pray for God to protect and bring to maturity the seeds which were planted and germinated.

January 20-26, 2010

JAPAN—Pray for Donn Townsend, beginning training to help with some data entry in the treasurer’s office. Pray that he will be able to retain what he learns.

Barbara Duhrkoop will have another week of training on the new database program they are integrating into the present Christian Academy in Japan (CAJ) system. Pray for clarity as the trainers explain how it works and for Barb and the others to retain the information.

Pray for the CAJ Spiritual Life Emphasis Week, starting on January 25. Ask God to speak to those students who do not yet know Him. Ask that they will block out the distractions and focus on God and what He wants to say to them.

Continue to pray as the team finalizes in the next two weeks the service project the seniors will do among the hill tribe people in Northern Thailand.

Pray for the work team coming in April. The details are being made from New Zealand. Ask for a good number of workers. They would like at least eight to get all the work finished.

January 6-10, 2010

JAPAN—Pray for Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and other governmental ministers to not go to the Ise Shrine to worship in January. Mr. Hatoyama is the only one who has the possibility of stopping this custom.

Pray for Barb Duhrkoop, training January 12-13 and 18-22 for the new Japanese accounting software system which the Christian Academy in Japan will start using as part of their move toward a new legal status.

Pray for work on the logistics for the annual senior class ministry trip to Thailand. Planners will meet with the senior parents on January 11 to talk about the preparation and the general schedule of the trip which takes place from March 13–21.

On January 8, the team will begin an English Bible study using the Alpha ESOL format. Pray for a non-Christian who is going to attend the first meeting to decide if it will be of interest to him. Also pray for another non-Christian who attended Alpha ESOL and also plans to come to the English Bible study. Ask for wisdom for Daisy Townsend, preparing for this Bible study.

JAPAN—Pray for a first-year Tokyo Biblical Seminary (TBS) student who is wrestling with the decision to return to TBS when this year is finished. Her mother has mental illness and doesn’t like the idea of her daughter being gone for a longer period of time. Ask for God’s will to be done.

Praise the Lord for a good Christmas concert by the Christian Academy in Japan music department on December 4 and 5. Pray for the many non-Christians who attended to respond to the seeds that were planted through the scripture reading and the music.

Praise the Lord for a good planning meeting as OMS Japan continues to work on changing their form of legal organization in Japan. Pray for the office assistant, Eri Matsuoka, as she takes on more responsibility related to the process. Uplift Steve Duhrkoop, Eri Matsuoka and advisor Takeshi Sato as they meet with representatives of national and Tokyo government offices to present the first documents on December 22.
