Haiti Prayer Requests

March 3-9, 2010

HAITI—The official death toll from Haiti’s devastating earthquake has been raised to 222,517, with 310,090 people wounded, one million people homeless and half a million people who have left Port-au-Prince to seek refuge in other areas. Continue to pray for all who have been affected.

Praise God for the deep work of the Holy Spirit among the Haitian people, particularly through the days of national prayer and fasting that ended on February 16 with a March for Jesus in the northern city of Cap Haitien. An estimated 50,000 people marched through the streets of Cap Haitien, carrying signs proclaiming, “No freedom for Haiti without Jesus”

Feb. 24- Mar 2. 2010

HAITI—The field still need teams of up to eight people, primarily nurses and physical therapists. The needs will be great for a long time to come, but they need to concentrate on those needs in a priority order. Ask God to grant wisdom and stamina.

Feb 3-9, 2010

HAITI—Be praying for the OMS Haiti team to serve the Lord and the Haitian people in the most efficient, meaningful and needed ways since the January 12 earthquake.

Pray for Dr. Gavin and Julie McClintock and visiting doctors, nurses, surgeons and translators who are working right outside of Port-au-Prince to help many of the people who were injured. Uplift the Emmaus Biblical Seminary staff and students who have joined them to help evangelize the thousands of people coming for help.

Continue to pray for Brett Bundy, directing all of these efforts to meet urgent physical and spiritual needs in Cap-Haitien and in Port-au-Prince.

Pray for the Haitian church, its pastors and members facing huge changes and needs among its congregations.

Louisa Destine, wife of Ti Louis (both on the Radio 4VEH staff), needs your prayers for some medical problems. Dr. Gavin had a chance to see her and review her medical records. Please be in prayer as Louis and Louisa prepare to travel to Columbus, Ohio, to visit doctors at Ohio State University

Intercede for the journalists that are witnessing the faithfulness of the Haitian people. God is at work in Haiti and for that, the team gives all the praise and glory to Him who is more than able.

January 27- Feb. 2, 2010

HAITI—The team praises the Lord for the many beautiful and real ways they are seeing Him work throughout all parts of suffering Haiti. Pray for every missionary, mission employee, church and brother and sister in Haiti as they all seek to be His healing hands and feet in the midst of the continuing devastation. They seek to take hope, help and healing to those in Port-au-Prince and to those around the nation who are hurting. Many people from Port are beginning to go to Cap-Haitien, and the mission field is expanding greatly. Pray that they will find many ways to efficiently meet the many needs arising and that they will radiate His healing and truth during this time of confusion and pain.

Emmaus Biblical Seminary and Cowman International School have closed, along with all schools in Cap-Haitien for a “Month of Mourning.” Pray for students and staff, working to help carry Jesus to the churches, families and communities.

The field is experiencing much difficulty with phone and internet connections. Pray that these lines of communication will be restored and that the team will effectively work together and be in good relationship with one another despite this lack in communication.

Pray that He will continue to be their joy in the midst of this difficult time.

December 16-22th, 2009

HAITI—Continue to be in prayer for the finishing of Emmaus Biblical Seminary’s new compound. Several MFMers and Haitian men are working full time to finish plumbing, windows, screens, furniture, etc. Praise the Lord for them and for this beautiful new campus. Be praying for the upcoming transitions as Emmaus moves.

Next week, Cowman International School will have its annual Christmas production. Pray for the non-Christian families that will attend and hear the Christmas story.

March 25-31, 2009

HAITI—Gord and Doreen Wallace are finishing up their three-year commitment to the building of the Emmaus Biblical Seminary on March 31. Pray that the balance of the work will be finished. Ask for skilled people to go and work on the finishing details. They are not retiring but are taking a year off to rest and recoup. Pray that God will direct their path.

The Haiti field is thankful for Neil VonArb’s help with the seminary construction. Pray that the Lord will provide employment for Neil when he returns to the U.S. on March 27.

Pray for the OMS Haiti field, working through many changes. God is in control of all things, especially the difficult ones.

Intercede for Radio 4VEH and their financial needs. Pray for wisdom for Brett Bundy who is giving leadership in that area.

Pray for MaryLou Wunker, giving leadership at the Emmaus Biblical Seminary. Pray for the end of this school year and for the search for a new director for the seminary.

Feb 25- March 4, 2009

HAITI—The Lord has gone before the three young men who are working on their master’s degrees for the Emmaus Biblical Seminary (EBS). The U.S. embassy has granted their request for visas so that they can attend the required course at Wesley Seminary in Mississippi in March.

Both containers have arrived with the needed materials for the EBS. Work is progressing. Ceramic tile is being laid in the men’s dorm. The kitchen equipment is being installed. Ceiling tiles, lights and fans are being set in place; things are coming together. The seminary staff is thankful for the teams that have gone to Haiti and the work that they have accomplished. Pray for all that still needs to be done. Ask for strength and safety for those that work everyday on the site.

Uplift Brett Bundy, the field leader and the field committee: MaryLou Wunker, Matt Ayars and Gill Shoemaker. Pray for wisdom as they guide and direct the Haiti field.
