Ecuador Prayer Requests
Nov. 19-25, 2008
ECUADOR—There is a need for Men for Missions work teams to go Cuenca in 2009 to help build a new seminary building.
Continue to pray for Kathy Coon, who is on home assignment through January in Michigan. Kathy has had a double mastectomy to remove a large amount of cancerous tissue. The cancer is very advanced. Pray for Kathy and for her family, coming to terms with this.
The Johannes family is finishing their time in Cuenca in language study, and they are preparing to move to Pallatanga. Remember them in your prayers as they need to pack everything, including windows for their house in Pallatanga. Pray for the kids whom the Johanneses have been evangelizing. The Johanneses are looking for somebody to continue that work.
Give thanks for the successful medical team at work in Bucay until November 9. Remember the team heading to Pallatanga to work from November13-29.
Give thanks for the students at SEMBEC, both in Cuenca and the extension in Azogues. Most of the students that started this are finishing it. Pray that they will be able to continue next term and encourage others to start studies.
Nov. 12-18th, 2008
ECUADOR—Pray for solid evangelism by each ECC team and acceptance of church multiplication training for the stability of the churches and the strengthening of leadership in Ecuador. Pray for the Bible study with leaders of the church in Pallatanga. Pray for Guido as he leads, and ask that the leaders will grasp the depth of God’s love for them, for their church and for their community.
They are still working on both administrators’ houses at Camp Pallatanga; building projects always take longer than expected. The last two teams have been an awesome blessing, working with six Ecuadorian workers. The Gus and Nicole Johannes family moves to Pallatanga on December 1.
Cindy Tankersley’s Bible study has been underway for three weeks. Pray for the three new ladies who have joined the group.
Remember the Saraguro guinea pig project in your prayers. Some of the leaders are struggling to carry on. Pray for strong, healthy animals and for regular markets for sales.
November 5th- 11th, 2008
ECUADOR—The Johannes family will soon complete their language training in Cuenca and move to Pallatanga to develop their ministry at the camp. Pray for the construction of their new house.
Remember the medical team, going to Bucay in November with Susan Stiles.
In Cuenca, the building plans for SEMBEC’s new premises are still being processed. Pray that the technical and legal side of all this will be successful and quick, so that work on the site can get under way in the new year.
Oct. 15-21, 2008
ECUADOR—In Cuenca, SEMBEC has started the academic year with a good number of students in its three modules, as well as two extension classes in Azogues, a nearby town. Pray that the students will complete this term’s studies and will then continue with further modules. It is essential that good relationships between the students and lecturers develop and grow strong. Pray, too, that God will provide for each student’s fees.
Oct. 8-14th, 2008
ECUADOR—The flood relief donations have been a big help for the churches that were affected. We thank those who gave. A total of $18,000 was donated. The rains have stopped and there is much to do before the rains come again next year.
Six people have signed up for a work team to Camp Pallatanga from October 4-18. Cover each one with prayer, that they can accomplish much.
Kelly Chambers attends a weekly Bible study in the Quito Woman’s Prison. Pray for the testimony of the teachers and for the ministry of the Word of God in the lives of those behind bars.
Pray for the Carboncillo ministry. Pray for the campers to have spiritual times of refreshing and for those involved in the agriculture projects to see a profit for themselves and the ministries they are supporting.
Pray for the possibility of starting a ministry among another indigenous group, the Shuar in the Yantzaza area. We need a good, solid Shuar leader to begin the project.
October 1-7, 2008
ECUADOR—Kelly Chambers attends a Bible study each Wednesday at the prison. Entering the prison is entering the enemy’s territory, so pray specifically as she begins this ministry.
Steve Davies is supporting The Upper Room Church in Cuenca through preaching and youth work. Pray that through this ministry God will challenge and encourage members to serve Him with their gifts.
Pray for Owen and Avalon Brown, now working in the OMS New Zealand Office. Ask God to supply all their needs, especially for the funds required to return to Ecuador to sort out their personal belongings and to take a short-term team with them to minister to the Saraguros.
Sept 24-30, 2008
ECUADOR—Ask God to provide a professor to teach various subjects in the theological field at the theological seminary, visit local churches to promote the seminary and give workshops in local churches.
