Colombia Prayer Requests

Feb 3-9, 2010

COLOMBIA—Praise the Lord for the great beginning of the seminary academic year. Pray for each course not be just academic work but an encounter with Jesus. Pray also for God to move in the seminary community and for the Holy Spirit’s work be evident in everything the staff does, says and thinks.

Pray for the prison ministry as a new year program begins. Pray for permission for personnel to enter the prison to be granted quickly. Thank the Lord for the marvelous impact the Prison Fellowship International leadership had in their visit to Medellín as they saw the transforming power of Christ in prisoners’ and ex–prisoners’ lives. Pray for the 40-plus ex-prisoners who are now full-time evangelists or pastors; 21 of them have started churches across Colombia. Pray for God to raise up regular financial supporters for the prison ministry.

The church in Colombia is the body of Christ, fleshed out, often living in dangerous situations. Pray for each believer. Seminary student Luis Carlos Garcia was held up by a rebel group for three days while they investigated him. He was thrilled, however, with the opportunity God is giving him. More than 100 youth found Jesus as Savior in the interior of Colombia because of his witness. Luis Carlos is beginning his fourth year of study in seminary.

January 20-26, 2010

COLOMBIA—Pray for the seminary as classes begin on February 2. Ask God to come in a special way this year to the seminary community.

Pray for the church in Colombia. Ask that each believer walk in purity before God and be faithful in his or her walk with Jesus.

Remember Cyndy Mondelus, in Bogotá, Colombia, for a year or more as an OMS missionary. She has just learned that four of her father’s relatives were killed in the Haitian earthquake.

December 16-22th, 2009

COLOMBIA—God continues to work in the lives of His servants and those who hear His Gospel. Pray for fresh vision and renewed strength of ministry leaders for soul winning, teaching and discipleship in prison, city and town ministries. Continue to pray for the health of the lay shepherds.

Pray for all of the churches as they prepare for special Christmas programs. Ask God to bring in a spiritual harvest through each one. Uphold the families who have a loved one kidnapped or missing, like our Interamerican Pastor William. Nothing has been heard of him since September 2008 when he was abducted. Pray that Jesus will strengthen and encourage the hearts of persecuted believers and their families.

Pray for the graduations in Bellavista Bible Institute on December16; ask that the believers will continue to grow spiritually and be used by God in the prison with the knowledge of the Scriptures they have gained. Pray for the staff as they finish another year of ministry. Ask God to bring renewal to each one during their Christmas break. Thank God for His faithful financial provisions and for allowing the team to grow as they see needs and budget met.

December 9-15th, 2009

COLOMBIA—Pray for the visit of Rick and Sherry Gillam and John-Mark and Susan Brabon to Medellín from December 9–16. Ask God for safe travel, and pray that all luggage will come through safely at this time of the year. Angel Tree will be celebrated with the prisoners’ children on Saturday, December 12. Pray for God's provision for each child. Ask God to provide the added financial need of the prison budget at the end of the year.

Pray for the father-son retreat from December 11–13 and for Manuel Reano who will be speaking. Pray for the leaders in ministry who will attend with their sons. Pray it will be a time of healing, affirmation and strengthening the bond between fathers and sons.

Pray for all of the churches and ministries during this special season of the year as activities are prepared for Christmas. Pray many will come to know Jesus. Pray for churches in the areas of conflict to be encouraged and for the widows and children's needs to be met.

November 11-17, 2009

COLOMBIA—Pray for Gail Leroy’s and Bonnie Schrode’s visits to Colombia. Gail will be there for several weeks. They are a vital asset to the field. Bonnie served as field treasurer, and now Gail has assumed this role. Jonathan Morton arrives on November 9 to visit and talk with the national leadership.

Pray for the seminary, now in the last days of the academic year. Pray for students and faculty in their responsibilities. Pray for the seminary’s financial crisis and for Manuel Reano in his leadership role.

Continue pray for the family whose father and husband was martyred. Pray for Remberto Barrios, president of the Interamerican Church, as he handles this and many difficult situations. Pray for Octavio and Fannyta in their roles of member care for the national church. Pray for the church of Jesus Christ in Colombia to be a pure and holy instrument in God’s hands to bring multitudes into the kingdom by a godly life style.

Uplift the outreach of Randy Green and the six policemen who are ministering to the police in Medellín. Pray for the follow-up of the police who have come to Christ. Pray for God’s ongoing work in their lives. Ask God to open doors so Fernando Arroyave may do his seminary practicum as chaplain to the police in Medellín.

November 4-10, 2009

COLOMBIA—Pray for a pastor’s family who is grieving the loss of their husband and father as well as the congregation that is suffering because of his death. Though he had little education, he had founded nine churches. He went to another town to hold an evangelistic crusade. An armed group killed or injured several in the church and then beat, stabbed and killed the pastor. Pray for the Igleico church organization, seeking to care for the family and comforting those affected by this senseless act.

October 28th- Nov 3rd, 2009

COLOMBIA—Pray for the men’s retreat on November 1 and 2, the first boot camp in Colombia. Pray for each man to hear from God and to be drawn into intimacy with Him. Pray that God will heal wounds, uncover sin and bring those attending who do not know Jesus into saving faith. Dr. Manuel Reano, Augusto Calvo, Juan Carlos Castellanos, Julio Cesar Rojas, Carlos Velasquez and Gustavo Belloso will be speaking. Pray for Jesus’ blood to cover each man and his family during his absence. Believe for a deep movement of God. Jeannine Brabon will be present in prayer support. Pray for the finances many still need to attend.

Praise God for the Colombian military officers who found Jesus at Fort Benning during Carlos Velasquez and Jeannine Brabon’s visit from October 14-18. Pray for David Roberts, who teaches English on the base, as he follows up these decisions. Pray that upon returning to Colombia, they will find a church and continue to grow spiritually.

Pray for the church in Colombia to be a pure and clean vessel through which the Holy Spirit may flow powerfully. Pray the Scriptures as you lift these requests.
