Brazil Prayer Requests
October 1-7, 2008
BRAZIL—The Airport Missionary Church is having a couples’ marriage enrichment camp from October 3-5. Pray for speakers and couples who will attend.
Des and Karine Quinn met a Welsh man and his Brazilian wife and struck up a friendship. Pray for an opportunity to share God’s love with them. Pray for Felipe Quinn’s full recovery from adenoid surgery on October 1.
Mike and Ann Miner had the opportunity to share their testimonies with the teenaged students at “A Time With God” at the Webb Language Institute. Pray that what they shared will continue to speak to young lives.
The Londrina Seminary will hold its Spiritual Emphasis Week from October 6-8. Pray for a deeper walk and commitment in the lives of the seminary students.
Sept. 10-16, 2008
BRAZIL—Pray for Jessica, Joshua and Natalie, children of missionaries Mike and Ann Miner, who are now in a Brazilian school five afternoons a week. Sometimes the constant Portuguese makes them weary, so pray for continued adjustments.
Pray for one of Mike Miner’s English students. She enjoys spending time with their family and often has the children over or takes them out for activities. Joshua, age 10, felt led of the Lord to share about Jesus with her recently. As the saying goes, “out of the mouths of babes.” Pray for continued opportunities to live and share Jesus with her.
David, Conce and Andrew Roof continue to settle into their home in Belem. Life is slower there, and it takes longer to get things done. Pray for patience and strength. Andrew is the only boy in his class. Pray for a good friend or two among the boys from other classes.
July 23-29
BRAZIL— Praise God along with the Quinn family as Karine is regaining her energy and strength after a minor stroke. They are thankful for God’s goodness and the way He makes blessings out
of seeming tragedy.
Shalom Community Church is having a couple’s night on July 26. Please pray for the speaker and for all the couples who attend; ask that God will be present and that His truth will be taught. Pray that the couples that attend will be blessed and encouraged.
The young people of the Belo Horizonte, Central and Bandeirantes Churches will join together for an afternoon and evening of evangelical outreach in a neighborhood near the Bandeirantes Church. Please pray for the young people involved and that those they come in contact with will be touched by the truth of the Gospel message.
Please pray for the McKee family as they prepare to return to Ireland on the 29th. Please lift them up as they pack and say their farewells. Pray also for their transition back to life in Ireland. Pray for Joshua, Annabelle and Dylan as they say goodbye to friends and prepare to enter new schools this fall.
July 16-22, 2008
BRAZIL— Pray for Karine Quinn to rest and fully recover from the small stroke. Pray for each of the family to know God’s peace and guidance each day. They also need an increase in their support levels.
Pray for the McKee family, in their last weeks in Brazil, to have good closure and to complete necessary work. Remember each of them, returning to the U.K. and readapting to life in Northern Ireland. Especially remember Priscila; it won’t be easy, leaving her homeland again.
Please pray for the pastors and leaders from the national churches that are at a week-long spiritual retreat in Maringa. Pray for safety as many of them travel long distances to attend and for good fellowship and renewal on a personal and spiritual level for all those involved.
Praise God for a great evangelical outreach event done by the Imagauwa Church in a poor neighborhood. Pray that those who heard the Gospel will respond to God and that those who shared will maintain positive relationships with the people they met and ministered to.
Please lift up the Roof family as they have had many delays getting their personal belongings released to them in Belem. Pray for patience for them and for their attitudes and interactions during this frustrating time to be used for God’s glory.
July 2-8
BRAZIL—Praise God for the teen outreach going on at the Belo Horizonte Church. More than
20 “unchurched” teenagers attend the Saturday afternoon meetings for a time of fun and fellowship, followed by small group Bible studies. Pray that God will give wisdom to the leaders and that these teens will respond to God.
Continue to lift up Marla Routon’s visa request. Their homeland assignment depends on when it is granted.
Pray for the Miner children (Jessica, Joshua and Natalie), attending a Brazilian school for two hours each afternoon. Ask for good friends and a better grasp of the Portuguese language.
Keep praying for the ongoing meetings and the agreement about the purchase of the seminary and camp properties by the national church. Ask the Lord to smooth over the areas in question, and pray that both OMS Brazil and the national church be in agreement about all the details.
Lift up the McKee family, transitioning out of their assignment at Camp Shalom and preparing to return to Ireland. Join them in lifting up the future of Camp Shalom; pray that God will provide new camp directors and caretakers that can continue the valuable camping ministry.
June 18-24th, 2008
BRAZIL—Continue to pray for Karine Quinn’s recovery. Understandably the boys, especially Lucas, are getting unsettled. Pray for peace of mind for him and all the family.
June 11-17, 2008
BRAZIL—Thank the Lord that David Roof was able to get all of their belongings in Londrina packed and shipped to Belem. He and Lamar Ziegler are already on site for the arrival of Conce, Andrew and the work team on June 14.
Mel and Fran Noah leave on June 13 for a month in the U.S., combining mission business and family time. Pray for safety and good health. Pray for Gwen Pinkerton who will return to Brazil on June 12. Remember the Routons (handing over ministry responsibilities as they wait for Marla's visa), Gwen (catching up on the bookkeeping), the Quinns (Karine's health) and the McKees (finishing up things at the camp and preparing to return to Northern Ireland soon).
Mike and Ann Miner invited some of their English students over for fellowship. Pray for their influence in the lives of their students. Remember Jessica, Joshua and Natalie as they begin attending a Brazilian school two hours a day.
