August 27th-Sept. 2, 2008

COLOMBIA—Pray for the eXtreme Walk team. Pray for wisdom for Patrick and Rachel Whipple in leadership for a good adjustment as they settle in to a new apartment. Pray for Joe and Alicia Timmermans, discipling the children and youth they have reached for Christ. Pray for Kayleen to sense God’s protection, strength and encouragement.

Pray for Borje Erdtman, a Swede who is committed to reaching Colombia for Christ, during his visit from August 22 to 28. Pray for the prison team, and give thanks for the spiritual growth.

Pray for each new believer to receive discipleship and encouragement. Pray for encouragement for the persecuted church.

ECUADOR—Alfredo Gonzales, president of the national church association, is visiting the southern mountain churches on August 30. Pray that his visit will encourage pastors and churches.

Classes at the Alliance Academy begin this week. Lift up all of the teachers and incoming students as they start the new school year. Ask the Lord to pour blessings on this institution that cares so much for missionary kids and their families.

Praise God for the growing house church movement in Cuenca. They recently had a retreat for their members and five people accepted the Lord as Savior. Pray for Anita and Jorge, a young couple who have a church in their home and encourage their members to a greater commitment to the Lord and the group.

Pray that Mark and Nube Vogan and Timothy and Deborah can find a suitable home quickly, as the children need a yard to play in. Nube is still suffering some from shingles and passed out recently because of low blood pressure.

EVERY COMMUNITY FOR CHRIST—ECC BURKINA FASO—Pray that many people will respond to the call of Jesus and that He will be glorified through the work of the ECC church planters and trainers.

HAITI—Two containers being held in customs in Port au Prince have supplies that are needed for the Emmaus Biblical Seminary construction. Pray for the containers to be released soon.

Pray for the upcoming Emmaus pastor’s conference. Pray that Charles Wise from Frazer Memorial in Alabama will bring encouraging messages to the pastors.

Pray for the interviews with prospective students who want to enroll in Emmaus Biblical Seminary this year. Ask that God will direct the decisions and supply all of the needs.

Praise the Lord for the expertise and help that Neil von Arb has provided on the seminary construction. Pray that the details will fall in place for him to return. The field is praying that all of the construction will be finished by March 2009 so that classes can begin at the new seminary in the fall of 2009.

Ask God to give direction for this coming year during the annual field meetings. Pray that the missionaries will be unified as a field.

HUNGARY—Ask the Lord to provide the resources that Hungary candidates, Jonathan and Corrine Long and Sara Sparks need in order to join the team on the field this year. Pray for John and Tricia Fraser to complete their funding so they can return to the field. Also, ask the Lord to supply the financial support that Melanie Carlson needs to stay on the field.

The new school year is fast approaching. Pray that the Lord will prepare the workers to meet the challenges of the new year and that He will make them effective ambassadors of the Gospel.

Praise God for two successful English camps! The camp leaders give thanks for the many dedicated staff at both camps. Follow-up events have already begun and have been well attended. Uplift the church youth leaders, planning events and leading young people closer to Christ. Thank God for the parents of some campers who are interested in attending a Bible study. God has provided many wonderful connections through English camp ministries. Pray that He will help the team make the most of every opportunity.

Pray for Will and Diane Dickerson who have many renovations needed for their new apartment. Also, pray for Tamas and Eva Rupp who are building a house. Repeated delays have drawn this process out for more than five years. They must leave their apartment by the end of the summer.

INDIA—Bishop Ezra Sargunam is recovering slowly from his recent heart surgery. Thank you for your prayers. The doctors have said that post-operative care is very important. Pray for his two daughters, to have God’s wisdom while taking care of him at home. Ask God to provide the funds for this surgery.

MEXICO—Give thanks that Andrew and Carol Agnew and Tabitha and Oscar returned safely to Mexico City. Pray for them, returning to their work in social ministries in there. Remember the two children, too, as they adapt to the climate and life there again.

Pray for the new session of classes beginning at SEMBIMEX. Praise God for new students!

Pray for the Santa Monica church, which needs to make some important decisions about the future.

Barney Kropf, from the Northwest in the United States, is in Mexico. Pray for good health and for wisdom and direction as he seeks the Lord during his time there. Praise God for his help in the treasurer’s office

Pray for Jonny Pollock’s father. He had minor heart surgery last week and is in need of the Savior. Ask for peace and salvation for Jonny’s parents. Jonny and Julie are in the U.K., raising support and awaiting the arrival of their first child.

Schools have started in Mexico. Pray for Madeline and Joshua MacKinnon, who are in a new school this year. Pray for all of the teachers in the churches to be good examples in the classroom.

SOUTH KOREA—Pray for students at Seoul Theological University as the fall semester began on August 25. Pray for God to reveal Himself and work in lives through the fall revival meetings that will take place from September 9 to 11.

UNITED KINGDOM—Pray for Michael and Su Berkeley’s family. They have had many health issues over these past few months. Su’s sister, Diane, had a heart attack. Su was already in Swansea and was so grateful to be there and get Diane immediate help. She had surgery and is recovering well. Pray for Mike and Su as they plan to move to Swansea in a couple of weeks. They will rent a friend’s house. Pray for a quick sale of their Burnley home. Remember everyone in the family, including daughters, Kate and Jenny, in this unsettling time.

URUGUAY—Praise the Lord for the great interest in the Bible studies that are. There are 22 women interested in the Spanish study.

Pray that the new English community that has arrived will find Christ Church. The missionaries are praying that some of them could disciple small groups and help with the many activities going on.

Continue to pray for Diana, who is better but still not completely well.

John and Lisa Hamilton and the kids have returned to Uruguay. Pray for their financial needs as well as the finances of the other missionaries on the field.

AUSTRALIA—Ray and Lauren Airosa, new Australian directors, have had a rough week. First, doctors thought that their one-year-old son, Matteo, had a tumor behind his eye. He had investigative surgery which revealed no tumor. But they did discover that his retina is completely damaged, so he has no sight in his left eye. They were encouraged to learn that this should not keep him from living a normal life. Do continue to pray for little Matteo and his family.

EVERY COMMUNITY FOR CHRIST—ECC BENIN—Pray for wisdom for the team members, discipling and training new believers to share their faith with their neighbors.
ECC CARIBBEAN—Praise the Lord for many years of faithful witness and teaching in the seminaries. Pray for visas for the people who want to attend the anniversary celebration of one of those institutes.
ECC INTERNATIONAL TEAM—Pray for guidance for the ECC coordinators around the world, finishing a three-month time of prayer regarding baptisms. Pray for wisdom and faith to do His will concerning teaching about baptism and implementing plans for the baptism of new believers.

ECUADOR—The Johannes family asks for prayers for their ministry with a group of street vendors’ children in Cuenca. Their desire is to present Jesus as Savior to both the children and their families. They also want to help several of them get back into school.

Alliance Academy is beginning the new academic year. Pray for Cindy Tankersley as she meets her new class. Last year she was able to lead several of her second graders to the Lord. Pray that MKs Jonathan and David Tankersley and Courtney Chambers will have a strong testimony of Christ in their lives before their classmates.

Pray for Pastor Marco and the congregation in Calderon to mend broken relationships with some families who have left the church for various reasons.

Thank the Lord for the team that came from Rochester, New York, to hold conferences with teens across Ecuador. They had many opportunities to share the Good News. Pray that seeds sown will find good ground and take root in young peoples’ lives.

HUNGARY—The summer English camp program is now over. The team is thankful for a very fruitful summer. Ask God to protect the students who were at camp and to water and nourish the seeds that were planted in their hearts. Pray that the new believers will grow and mature. Pray for the team as they now turn their attention to follow-up and discipleship.

INDIA—Tests last week revealed that Bishop Ezra Sargunam had multiple blockages in the arteries. When they could not control the pain, they did multiple bypass surgery. He is now recovering from the surgery. He seems to be calm, peaceful and confident that God will bring him to through this struggle. With the recent loss of his wife, the family and the church are going through a time of anxiety and crisis. Please uphold Bishop Sargunam in your prayers.

MEXICO—Pray for Rebeca Ballentin as she finishes up her time in Mexico. Pray to for grace as she awaits the results of her A level exams.

Pray for Barney Kropf as he adjusts to life in Mexico and begins his short-term assignment.

Several of the team are experiencing minor medical challenges like amoebas and insomnia. Pray for healing and rest.

Pray for a good, inexpensive used car for Robin Efing.

Pray for the special events being planned for evangelism in La Loma. Ask the Lord for direction and strength for the team planning these events and for results. It is a joint effort with ECC, Mexi-Kids and the church.
