New Beginnings Ministry

The New Beginnings Ministry is an outreach to underprivileged children and their families who live near Faith Fellowship church in Quezon City, Philippines. Started in October of 2002, the ministry reached out to families and children living under a bridge. Each Saturday more than 100 children were taught Bible stories and verses, songs, did crafts and were given a simple snack. The children were also tutored for school, and provided baths and and a breakfast each Sunday before church. In October of 2003, the first ever medical mission was held. More than 500 people received free medical care from 200 volunteers from the church. Many accepted Christ as well.

In December of 2005, a terrible tragedy occurred. The homes where the people lived under the bridge were destroyed in a fire. Hundreds of families were left homeless. For several months they lived on a basketball court near the bridge in makeshift shelters, waiting for the government to help relocate them to a new area. Most of the families were finally moved to a neighboring province, but a few were able to find housing near the church. These continue to be discipled by the ministry and are active in the church.

The ministry recently started a livelihood program to help those continuing to live nearby. It also reaches out to others who more recently have been found in need of resources and training to enable them to feed their families. There will also be a day center for children to come in off the street to be tutored, fed and have a safe place to play and learn.
