May 27-June 4, 2009
MOZAMBIQUE—Gabriel, son of Mike and Sarah Thiessen, came through his surgery well on May 4. The tumor was not attached to any other organ. As a precaution, they did remove his gall bladder and took a bit of the covering of his large intestine that the tumor was resting against. They were able to remove the tumor on his lung. They had to take about 25 percent of his liver, which is quite good. The doctors felt it all went well and could not see any other signs of cancer. Gabe will start chemo in June to make sure all the cancer is eradicated. Rejoice and do keep on praying for a full recovery. He was able to come home from the hospital the day before his third birthday. Especially remember Sarah as the new baby is due in early June.
Remember Dave and Ann Dedrick, traveling to Zambezia Province this week for quarterly meetings with ECC country coordinator, Juka Fernando. They will discuss moving the land processes forward at the Mocuba and Gurue ministry centers and general ministry in the Zambezia and Nampula provinces.
Praise that Aimee Howarth has received approval from OMS to be released to the field for her ministry assignment. Lord willing, she will arrive in Mozambique in mid-July. Continued prayer is needed for missionaries Melvin and Sharon Kelly, who are funding for career positions. They will attend CROSS Training at OMS in July and return to Northern Ireland to continue to fund and friend raise.
Ask God to revive the hearts of the church members in the established Palavra Viva churches with a fresh vision of evangelism of the lost. Many have been trained; may God now capture their hearts with His desire to reach this nation for Christ.
