Rod and Beth Williamson

Field Director/Hostess

Rod and Beth Williamson, missionaries with OMS International, serve in Taiwan. Rod’s primary responsibility is field director and Beth’s is home schooling Joshua and Matthew and serving as field hostess. Rod and Beth are also teaching 17-week parenting courses in churches throughout the island.

Raised in Taiwan by his OMS missionary parents, Rod first returned to Taiwan as a short-term missionary in 1979. Then, in 1989, he returned again to begin full-time ministry as a career missionary.

After graduating from Morrison Academy in Taiwan, Rod earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at George Fox College, a master’s degree in chemistry at the University of Northern Iowa and a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Texas A&M University. In those early years in Taiwan, Rod coordinated the Every Creature Crusade (now called Every Community for Christ) teams, directed the English evangelism program, and began university ministry at Sun-Yat-Sun University. Rod also served in the International Ministries Department at OMS headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana, for seven years before returning to Taiwan to assume the position of field director in January 2003.

Originally from California, Beth first went to Haiti with NOW Corps and then taught English as a short-term missionary with OMS. She earned her bachelor’s degree in finance from California State University, Sacramento and her M.B.A. in management from Golden State University. Political unrest in Haiti brought about her transfer to Taiwan in 1991.

Rod and Beth were married in June 1992 and served together in Taiwan until March 1996 when they returned to the U.S. to begin working at the OMS headquarters. The Williamsons have two children, Joshua and Matthew.
