Patrick and Rachel Whipple 802295eXtreme Walk Coordinators

Patrick and Rachel Whipple coordinate eXtreme Walk, a year-long overseas evangelism and church planting experience for young people. They lead and disciple other young missionaries from various countries who go through a cultural submersion experience while working on an international church planting team in one of many countries around the world. Their work involves recruiting, training, sending out and debriefing short-term missionaries, as well as coordinating with the OMS fields and national leaders that receive the young missionaries. The work involves much learning, prayer, communication and discipleship to grow the body of Christ around the world.
A 2002 graduate of Asbury College, Patrick has served with OMS since 2003 when he served with eXtreme Walk on an Ecuadorian church planting team. Challenged by mentors at OMS to continue serving with eXtreme Walk, Patrick returned to Ecuador in 2004 as a sherpa, or servant guide, for other young missionaries on eXtreme Walk. He then became the international coordinator for eXtreme Walk in 2005.

Rachel graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2002 and entered OMS as a short-term missionary to Medellín, Colombia. She served for more than a year with a sports ministry, which reaches more than 1,000 youth and their families in the toughest neighborhoods of Medellín. She was also involved in prison ministry, which works in conjunction with Prison Fellowship International to minister to the inmates and their families. Her primary focus was at the Bellavista Prison.

Patrick and Rachel were married on September 2, 2006. Patrick continues to pursue a seminary degree from Wesley Biblical Seminary.
