Mark and Jeannie Wittig
Professor-Pastor/Counselor-Music
Mark and Jeannie Wittig have been missionaries with OMS International since 1984. Mark is professor of missions at the Biblical Seminary of Colombia in Medellín (www.unisbc.edu.co). As an ordained minister, he is also involved in a church-planting ministry and supervises a city-wide sports program, which evangelizes and disciples over 1,000 children and youth of Medellín through soccer on a weekly basis (www.cusportsclub.org). Jeannie serves as hostess for OMS in Medellín and directs a Christian abstinence-based sexual education program called CPR (Creating Positive Relationships) for local high schools. She also co-directs the music program of a local OMS church.
Reared on the mission field, Mark and Jeannie were graduated in 1976 from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. They married after Mark's return from Spain, where he served for a year as an OMS missionary. Jeannie received her nursing degree from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and worked for six years in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing. Mark received his master of divinity degree in 1982 from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois, and in 2000, obtained a doctorate in missiology at Trinity.
While in Deerfield, the Wittigs established and pastored a Hispanic church. Mark worked in that capacity while Jeannie served on the missions committee and with the youth. They both did volunteer work with Youth For Christ in North Carolina. After raising their support, they reached Colombia in 1985 to begin their ministry.
Mark and Jeannie have three grown children: Stephanie, Luke, and Nate.
