Emily Smith
English Evangelism
On Emily Smith’s third mission trip, during the summer of June 2005, God called her to His ministry and people, specifically to the people of Japan. Emily graduated from Wesley College in May 2008 with a degree in missions. She is currently enrolled at Wesley Biblical Seminary, working toward a degree in missiology or theology.
While at Wesley College and Wesley Biblical Seminary, Emily has been involved in playing in and traveling with the college praise band. She also leads and choreographs for the drama team, serves as student body president and dorm “mom,” and is actively involved in the Jackson, Mississippi, community surrounding Wesley Biblical Seminary. Emily became involved in a local Japanese church and developed close relationships with the Japanese students at the college. In 2006, she and a friend began an inner-city ministry that is still going strong today.
Emily is a member of Eastridge Park Congregational Methodist Church in Mesquite, Texas, and works closely with nearby Keystone Church as well. She works with the youth of both churches and is a substitute Sunday school teacher. Emily is a regular speaker at Mission of Hope and is helping to develop a new worship team for Keystone Church.
Since God’s call to ministry and Japan, Emily has been surrounded by Japanese people who have inspired her and confirmed God’s calling on her life. She is called first to a relationship with Him, and that leads to His call to Japan. Emily’s passion is for the Japanese. Her heart is to encourage, to build up, to assist, to be available and to follow God in all things.
