David and Carol Cosby
David and Carol Cosby joined OMS International in 1975, they were assigned to youth evangelism and discipleship in Medellin, Colombia. Graduates of Asbury College, David and Carol returned in 1979 to Wilmore, Kentucky, for David to attend Asbury Theological Seminary. He completed a master of divinity degree in 1982 and a master of arts in religion degree in 1983.
In 1985, the Cosbys returned to Colombia where David taught Greek, Bible and theology courses at the Biblical Seminary of Colombia in Medellin. Carol served as coordinator for women’s discipleship groups, translator of student testimonies and hostess to OMS guests. David has translated three books into Spanish and written books in Spanish on the study of Hebrew poetry and the Holy Spirit.
The Cosbys were assigned in 1989 to OMS headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana, where David became director of Homeland Ministries. On a survey trip to Eastern Europe in 1991, David saw the potential for OMS outreach in Hungary. He and Carol accepted the challenge and served in Budapest from 1992-1997. David was involved in administration, teaching, preaching and discipleship. Carol served as hostess while overseeing the education of their children.
In 1997, the Cosbys began service in Mexico where David was professor and academic dean of the Biblical Seminary of Mexico. Carol filled positions of field treasurer and director of the school for missionaries’ children. During their years in Mexico, the seminary graduated its first class of students and a new building for seminary use was dedicated.
The Cosbys moved to Barquisimeto, Venezuela, in 2006.
David grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and Carol is from Mobile, Alabama. They have two children: a daughter, Sharyn, born in 1984, and a son, Blair, born in 1986.
