Aimee Howarth

DiscipleshipTraining
Aimee was working as a substitute teacher in San Diego, California, in 2001 when she surrendered her life to Christ. A short time later, the Lord called her to serve Him in Africa. She applied to OMS International and was accepted under International Link, the former name of OMS’ short-term program. Aimee taught at the Christian Academy in Mozambique (CAM), a school for missionary kids, for two years. After the second year, she became a career missionary with OMS.
During those two years, 2002-2004, Aimee taught kindergarten through second grade full-time at Christian Academy in Mozambique. She also worked on language and culture learning, helping with the showing of the JESUS Film, and she hosted a women’s Bible study from the OMS church in the city of Maputo.
During her second year in Mozambique, the Lord put north of Maputo on her heart and gave her the desire to disciple Mozambicans who will be involved in the women’s leadership of the rapidly growing church planting ministry. To further prepare for this work, Aimee completed a three-year cross-cultural and theological course at Fuller Theological Seminary from 2004-2007. She also attended a Brazilian church during these three years in order to learn and practice Portuguese.
Through OMS, Aimee now plans to return to Mozambique to serve in an area north of Maputo. She hopes to learn the tribal dialect, culture and way of life of those she will be working with. She plans to build relationships based on love and respect, to serve those around her both physically and spiritually, and ultimately, to disciple Mozambicans in their relationships with Christ. She will also disciple Mozambican leaders through Bible studies, teaching and leadership training.
