Aimee Howarth

Discipliship Training

Aimee was working as a substitute teacher in San Diego, California in 2001 when she surrendered her life to Christ. The Lord then called her to serve Him in Africa. She applied to OMS and was accepted under International Link to teach at the Christian Academy in Mozambique for one year. She then went on to become a short-term missionary and taught a second year in Mozambique. After her second year Aimee became a career missionary.

During those two years, 2002-2004, Aimee’s work would include teaching all subjects in kindergarten through second grade full-time at Christian Academy in Mozambique. She also worked on language and culture learning, helping with the showing of the JESUS Film, and she hosted a women’s Bible study from the OMS church in the city of Maputo.

During her second year in Mozambique the Lord put the north of Mozambique on her heart and gave her the desire to train Mozambicans north of Maputo in church related ministries so that they would be faithful and effective leaders who are lead by God’s Spirit to work through the challenges encountered within the daily life of a multicultural people. To prepare for this work Aimee has done a three-year cross-cultural and theological course at Fuller Theological Seminary, from 2004-2007. She was also a part of a Brazilian church during these three years in order to learn and practice Portuguese.

Through OMS, Aimee now plans to return to Mozambique, north of Maputo, to learn the tribal dialect, culture, and way of life of the people she will be working with through relationship building in community. She desires to build relationships based on love and respect, to serve those around her both physically and spiritually, and ultimately, to disciple Mozambicans in their relationships with Christ. She hopes to disciple Mozambican leaders through Bible studies, teaching, and leadership training.
