Current Ministries in Japan
As the oldest OMS-founded denomination, the Japan Holiness Church (JHC), founded in 1917, consists of 168 congregations and 8 evangelism centers. OMS works alongside the Japan Holiness Church, helping to plant new daughter congregations. OMS and the JHC are also partnering is missions in several countries, including Australia, Brazil and Taiwan.
- Tokyo Biblical Seminary (TBS), founded in 1901 as the Tokyo Bible Institute, offers a three-year master of divinity degree and a four-year bachelor of theology degree, as well as continuing education for pastors and courses for laypeople. TBS also cooperates with other Asian seminaries to provide advanced degrees through the Asia Graduate School of Theology and is the home of the Tokyo Missions Research Institute.
- Evangelistic Ministries - Personal contacts are the key element in evangelism in Japan. OMS missionaries are reaching out to Japanese who desire to learn English through formal classes, English camps and Bible studies. Missionaries also use a variety of methods, such as cooking and craft classes, to create opportunities to share Jesus. They also participate in programs to distribute evangelistic literature and videos to the Japanese people.
- OMS International is one of the six sponsoring mission agencies for Christian Academy in Japan. CAJ offers academic and spiritual education for K-12th grade students from almost 20 different nations and many mission organizations.
- Every Community for Christ (ECC) teams are reaching out through evangelistic campaigns, Bible studies and children's meetings to plant new churches and reach the youth of Japan with the Gospel.
