Current Ministries in Brazil
OMS works in partnership with the Missionary Church denomination (the OMS-founded
denomination in Brazil since 1962) to fulfill OMS’ three-fold strategy of evangelism, raising up a national church (church planting) and leadership training. This partnership, the fourth strategy, is done through OMS’ Every Community for Christ (ECC) teams that start new churches.
The Missionary Church now has more than 60 churches, totaling over 11,000 members. OMS has helped to supply pastors, lay workers and a camp for the church. The OMS missionaries work in partnership with the pastors in local churches in a variety of ministries. OMS’ Every Community for Christ (ECC) teams have become a major force in starting new churches throughout Brazil and the world.
We praise God for what He's done in 2008:
- Decisions for Christ: 906
- Baptism: 723
- Attending: 4,016
- People in discipleship or lay-leadership training: 19
- Churches established: 0
The Londrina Bible Seminary trains national pastors and leaders. This training is done to ensure current and future positions of leadership in the Missionary Church and other denominations. The seminary celebrates more than 50 years of service to students.
Camp Shalom provides churches with opportunities for evangelism and spiritual retreats. Many souls have been saved in the past 30 years through this ministry to children, youth, adults and couples.
What's happening in Brazil:

Randy and four Asbury College students spent 10 days working and learning in Londrina Brazil. Participants were Aaron Iddings ('08 grad), Laura Hogue (OMS Student Fellowship president for the 08-09 year), Erica Henry, and Bryan Dewaal.

A highlight for the team was visiting the amazing Iguazu Falls on the border of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.
